For a trip through Thailand and Vietnam, one multi-country eSIM is the best value: Code eSIM’s six-country plan cost $7.80 for 10 GB over 30 days on 12 October 2026 and covers both countries and four more. On the pages we checked, Airalo, Ubigi and Holafly sell the two countries separately or inside an Asia plan: Airalo’s Asia plan is $25.00 for 10 GB and Ubigi’s $42.00, while two 10 GB country plans cost $29.00 with Airalo and $23.90 with Ubigi. For unlimited data in both countries, Airalo’s Asia week is $26.00 and Holafly’s $27.50; Code eSIM does not sell one.

Bangkok and the islands, then Hanoi down to Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most common Southeast Asia routes. The usual advice is to buy a local SIM at each airport. With an eSIM you can cover both countries before you fly, with one plan or with one per country. Below are four providers’ own prices for both approaches, the networks each of our plans uses, and the cases where two plans or someone else’s plan is the better buy.

Our plans that cover both countries

On 12 October 2026, 61 plans in our catalogue covered both Thailand and Vietnam. These four are the ones worth comparing.

Plan Countries Thailand network Vietnam network 10 GB, 30 days Data exits in Top-up
Six-country plan 6 TrueMove H, dtac MobiFone, VinaPhone, Viettel $7.80 Hong Kong Yes
Asia 12 countries 12 AIS VinaPhone, Viettel $9.80 Singapore No
Asia 7 countries 7 AIS, dtac VinaPhone $11.00 United Kingdom Yes
Asialink 16 AIS, dtac, TrueMove H VNPT $13.00 Not listed Yes

One plan or two: the cost compared

These are our prices on 12 October 2026 for typical trips.

Your trip Two country plans One plan for both
A week in each, light use Thailand 3 GB at $4.00 and Vietnam 10 GB at $6.75: $10.75 10 GB for $7.80
Two weeks in each, about 10 GB in total Thailand 5 GB at $4.80 and Vietnam 10 GB at $6.75: $11.55 10 GB for $7.80
Heavy use, about 20 GB in total Thailand 10 GB at $7.00 and Vietnam 10 GB at $6.75: $13.75 20 GB for $13.00
A month in each Thailand 20 GB at $11.80 and Vietnam 20 GB at $11.25: $23.05 60 GB for 60 days at $39.10

Up to a month, one plan wins on price and saves a second install. Beyond 30 days the result flips. Each country plan has its own 30 days, and a Vietnam-only plan cannot connect in Thailand, so its clock starts when you reach Vietnam. Two 30-day plans then cover two months with 40 GB for $23.05, against $39.10 for 60 GB on the 60-day plan.

Which networks you get in each country

  • Thailand: most plans list AIS; the six-country plan lists TrueMove H and dtac, and Asialink lists all three brands. dtac and TrueMove H belong to one company, True Corporation, so a plan listing both gives you two brands of one network group. Our Thailand networks guide has the details.
  • Vietnam: the six-country plan is the only one here that lists all three big networks, MobiFone, VinaPhone and Viettel. See our Vietnam networks guide.
  • Where data exits: the multi-country plans route data through Hong Kong, Singapore or the UK, so websites see that location. Our Vietnam-only VinaPhone plans exit in Vietnam, which is the only way in this comparison to get a Vietnamese IP address.

Adding Cambodia or Laos

Many Thailand and Vietnam trips include Siem Reap or Luang Prabang. The six-country plan and the seven-country plan do not cover Cambodia or Laos. Two of our plans do:

Plan Also covers Prices
Asia 12 countries Cambodia, Laos, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and more; not Singapore 3 GB for 15 days $5.00; 10 GB for 30 days $9.80; 20 GB for $18.20
Asialink Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, mainland China, Japan, South Korea and more 3 GB for 30 days $7.00; 10 GB $13.00; 20 GB for $19.00

Airalo’s and Holafly’s Asia plans list Cambodia and Laos too, at the prices in the comparison table above.

When to buy two plans, or someone else’s plan

  • Trips longer than 30 days: two country plans cover more days for less, as shown above.
  • You stream video every day: we do not sell an unlimited plan for these two countries. Airalo’s Asia week is $26.00 and Holafly’s $27.50. If you are only in Thailand, Airalo’s Thailand week is $21.00.
  • You need to top up: Asia 12 countries cannot be topped up, so buy enough data at the start. The six-country plan, Asia 7 countries and Asialink can.
  • You need a Vietnamese IP address: only the Vietnam-only plans give one.

For most trips, one plan that covers both. On 12 October 2026, 10 GB for 30 days cost $7.80 with Code eSIM on a six-country plan, against $25.00 for Airalo’s Asia plan and $42.00 for Ubigi’s. For unlimited data in both countries, Airalo’s Asia week is $26.00 and Holafly’s $27.50.

Is there one eSIM for Thailand and Vietnam?

Is one regional eSIM cheaper than two country eSIMs?

For trips up to a month, yes. 20 GB on one plan cost $13.00, against $13.75 for a Thailand 10 GB plan and a Vietnam 10 GB plan. For longer stays two plans win, because each 30-day plan starts only when you first use it in its own country.

Which eSIM covers Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia?

Our Asia 12 countries plan covers Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, from $5.00 for 3 GB over 15 days or $9.80 for 10 GB over 30 days. Asialink also covers all four, from $7.00 for 3 GB, and adds Singapore. The six-country plan does not cover Cambodia or Laos.

Can I top up a Thailand and Vietnam eSIM?

Only on some plans. On 17 October 2026, 49 of the 61 plans of ours that cover both countries supported top-up, including the cheapest, the six-country plan, as well as Asia 7 countries and Asialink. Asia 12 countries cannot be topped up, so on that plan choose a size that covers the whole trip.

Does a Thailand and Vietnam eSIM support hotspot?

Yes. All 61 of our plans covering both countries list hotspot as supported, and shared data comes out of the same allowance. Holafly limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day on its unlimited Asia plan. Check the plan page before you buy elsewhere.

For a typical Thailand and Vietnam trip, one plan does the job: 10 GB for $7.80, or the 12-country plan if Cambodia or Laos is on the route. Buy two plans only if you are staying more than a month.
