iPhone 18 Pro is made in four versions, and the model number tells you which one you have. Apple’s cellular page lists A3472 for the United States and Puerto Rico, A3713 for Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Gulf states, A3714 for 190 other countries and regions, and A3715 for China mainland. iPhone 18 Pro Max follows the same split as A3473, A3716, A3717 and A3718.
The versions are not cosmetic. They differ in 5G bands (only the US version has mmWave), in LTE bands (the Canada, Japan and Gulf version has the most), and in SIM design: the US and Canada-Japan-Gulf versions are eSIM-only, the global version has a nano-SIM tray, and the China mainland version takes two nano-SIMs.
We read every model block on Apple’s 5G and LTE networks page on 15 September 2026 and compared the band lists line by line. The tables below are the result.
- A3472 / A3473 (US, Puerto Rico): 29 5G bands including mmWave, 31 LTE bands, eSIM only.
- A3713 / A3716 (11 markets including Canada and Japan): 26 5G bands, 33 LTE bands, eSIM only.
- A3714 / A3717 (190 countries and regions): 23 5G bands, 28 LTE bands, nano-SIM plus eSIM.
- A3715 / A3718 (China mainland): 22 5G bands, 27 LTE bands, dual nano-SIM.
- iPhone Duo uses the same four-way split: A3447, A3719, A3720 and A3721, all eSIM-only.
The four iPhone 18 Pro models at a glance
| iPhone 18 Pro | iPhone 18 Pro Max | Where Apple sells it | SIM | 5G bands | LTE bands |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A3472 | A3473 | United States, Puerto Rico | eSIM only | 29, including mmWave | 31 |
| A3713 | A3716 | Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, US Virgin Islands | eSIM only | 26 | 33 |
| A3714 | A3717 | 190 countries and regions, including the UK, the EU, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea | Nano-SIM + eSIM | 23 | 28 |
| A3715 | A3718 | China mainland | Two nano-SIMs, or nano-SIM + eSIM, or two eSIMs | 22 | 27 |
The SIM column lines up with Apple’s launch announcement, which names the eSIM-only markets as Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US and the US Virgin Islands. Those are exactly the A3472 and A3713 groups. Russia and Belarus do not appear in any iPhone 18 Pro model’s country list.

Which iPhone 18 Pro model is sold in your country?
Popular markets and the model Apple lists for each. iPhone Duo is included because it follows the same grouping.
| Country or region | iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max | iPhone Duo | SIM on 18 Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States, Puerto Rico | A3472 / A3473 | A3447 | eSIM only |
| Canada, Mexico | A3713 / A3716 | A3719 | eSIM only |
| Japan | A3713 / A3716 | A3719 | eSIM only |
| UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman | A3713 / A3716 | A3719 | eSIM only |
| United Kingdom, Ireland | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| Australia, New Zealand | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| India | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| Brazil, Türkiye | A3714 / A3717 | A3720 | Nano-SIM + eSIM |
| China mainland | A3715 / A3718 | A3721 | Two nano-SIMs or eSIM |
One change is easy to miss if you bought iPhones in Hong Kong before. For iPhone 16, Apple lists a single model for China mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. For iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 Pro, Hong Kong and Macao are listed with the global model instead, and China mainland has its own. A Hong Kong iPhone 18 Pro is therefore the same A3714 sold in London or Sydney, with one nano-SIM tray rather than two. The SIM design by country is covered in detail in does iPhone 18 Pro have a SIM card slot.
How the band lists differ
All four models share most bands. The table lists only the ones that are not common to every version, with the frequency Apple gives for each.
| Band | Frequency | A3472 (US) | A3713 (Canada, Japan, Gulf) | A3714 (global) | A3715 (China) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5G n258, n260, n261 (mmWave) | 26, 39 and 28 GHz | Yes | No | No | No |
| 5G n14 | 700 PS | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| 5G n29 | 700d MHz | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| 5G n71 | 600 MHz | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| 5G n53 | TD 2500 | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| LTE 11 and 21 | 1500 MHz | No | Yes | No | No |
| LTE 14 | 700 PS | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| LTE 29 | 700d MHz | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| LTE 71 | 600 MHz | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| LTE 53 | TD 2500 | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
Three practical readings. mmWave is a US-only feature, which matches Apple’s announcement that its C2 modem “now supports mmWave in the U.S.” The Canada, Japan and Gulf version is the most complete on LTE: it is the only one with bands 11 and 21 at 1500 MHz, and it keeps the North American 600 and 700 MHz bands. The global version drops the North American low bands (n71, n14, n29 and their LTE equivalents), which is why Apple’s specifications tell buyers to contact their carrier and check its cellular page for 5G and LTE support.

Travelling with a new iPhone? Whatever the model number, a travel eSIM runs beside your home line. Find a plan for your destination; each plan page names the partner network it roams on.
What the model number means when you travel
For most trips, the differences are small: all four versions share most of their bands, and a travel eSIM roams onto a partner network in the country you visit. The differences are worth checking in three situations.
- Taking a global A3714 to North America long-term. It lacks n71, n14 and n29, which Apple lists only on the US and Canada-Japan-Gulf models. If you will live there, compare those bands with the ones your carrier uses.
- Using a US A3472 heavily in Japan. It is the only version without LTE bands 11 and 21 at 1500 MHz, which the Japan-market model includes.
- Expecting mmWave outside the US. Only the A3472 has it, and Apple describes mmWave support as US-only.
Network choice matters more than the model for most travellers. Which local operator your plan uses is set by the plan, and we map that in which network a travel eSIM actually uses. Popular destinations: Japan, the US and Europe.
Satellite features also depend on where the phone was bought
Model number and purchase country are related but not identical, and Apple’s satellite rules follow the purchase country. Apple says satellite connectivity “isn’t offered on iPhone models purchased in Armenia, Belarus, China mainland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia”, and that for iPhones bought in Hong Kong and Macao it is offered only on iPhone 16e and later.
That produces two non-obvious cases. An iPhone 18 Pro bought in Hong Kong has satellite features, because it is newer than iPhone 16e. An A3714 bought in Kazakhstan is the same model as one bought in the UK, but Apple does not offer satellite connectivity on it. Our satellite SOS country guide lists where each feature works.
How to find your iPhone’s model number
- Open Settings and tap General, then About.
- Find Model Number. It first shows a part number, such as one ending in LL/A in the US or QN/A in the UK.
- Tap the part number once. It changes to the model number, which starts with A, such as A3714.
- Match it against the tables above.
Buying second-hand or from a reseller? Ask for that screen before paying. The model number tells you the SIM design and band list regardless of where the phone is being sold now. For the other checks, including carrier lock, see buying iPhone 18 Pro abroad, and for what each version costs in its home market, iPhone 18 Pro prices by country.

iPhone Duo and the rest of the lineup
Apple uses the same market groups across its current iPhones, with small variations.
| Model | US | Canada, Japan, Gulf group | Global | China mainland |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max | A3472 / A3473 | A3713 / A3716 | A3714 / A3717 | A3715 / A3718 |
| iPhone Duo | A3447 | A3719 | A3720 | A3721 |
| iPhone 17 | A3258 | A3519 | A3520 | A3521 |
| iPhone Air | A3260 (US, Canada, Mexico and the Gulf) | A3516 (Japan only) | A3517 | A3518 |
| iPhone 17e | A3575 (US, Canada, Japan and Gulf together) | — | A3634 | A3635 |
iPhone Duo is eSIM-only in every group, including China mainland, so its model numbers matter for bands rather than SIM design. Its band split mirrors iPhone 18 Pro exactly: mmWave only on the US A3447, the most LTE bands on A3719, and 22 5G bands on the China mainland A3721. Where the Duo’s eSIM rules differ by country is covered in iPhone Duo in China: mainland vs Hong Kong.
How we compiled this, and what it cannot tell you
Model numbers, country lists and band lists are from Apple’s iPhone 5G and LTE networks page, read on 15 September 2026. Every model block was parsed and compared programmatically rather than copied by hand. SIM designs are from Apple’s regional technical specification pages and its announcement of 9 September 2026. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 groupings are cross-checked against Apple’s guide to identifying your iPhone model, which had not yet added iPhone 18 Pro when we checked.
A band being listed means the phone supports it; whether a network uses it where you are is up to the operator. Apple’s lists can change with software and regulatory updates. We have not tested any of these phones on any network.

Frequently asked questions
What are the iPhone 18 Pro model numbers?
Apple lists four: A3472 for the United States and Puerto Rico, A3713 for Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Gulf states, A3714 for 190 other countries and regions, and A3715 for China mainland. iPhone 18 Pro Max uses A3473, A3716, A3717 and A3718 for the same groups.
What is iPhone 18 Pro A3714?
It is the global version, which Apple lists for 190 countries and regions including the UK, the EU, Australia, India, Hong Kong and Singapore. It has a nano-SIM tray plus eSIM, 23 5G bands and 28 LTE bands, and no mmWave. The matching Pro Max is A3717.
Which iPhone 18 Pro model has mmWave 5G?
Only the US version, A3472, and iPhone 18 Pro Max A3473. Apple lists 5G bands n258, n260 and n261 at 26, 39 and 28 GHz for that model alone, and its announcement describes C2 modem mmWave support as US-only.
Is the Japanese iPhone 18 Pro the same as the US one?
No. Japan gets A3713, shared with Canada, Mexico and the Gulf states. Like the US A3472 it is eSIM-only, but it has no mmWave and adds LTE bands 11 and 21 at 1500 MHz, giving it 33 LTE bands, the most of any iPhone 18 Pro version.
Is the Hong Kong iPhone 18 Pro the same as the China mainland version?
No. Apple lists Hong Kong and Macao with the global A3714, which has one nano-SIM tray plus eSIM. China mainland has A3715, which takes two nano-SIMs. For iPhone 16, Apple listed one shared model for China mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
Will a UK iPhone 18 Pro work in the US?
Generally yes, for travel. The UK phone is the global A3714, which covers the main shared 4G and 5G bands. It lacks mmWave and the 600 and 700 MHz bands n71, n14 and n29 that Apple lists for the US model, so check those against your US carrier before a long stay.
How do I check my iPhone’s model number?
Open Settings, then General, then About. Next to Model Number you will see a part number; tap it once and it changes to the model number starting with A. Compare that number with Apple’s cellular page or the tables in this guide.
What are the iPhone Duo model numbers?
A3447 for the United States and Puerto Rico, A3719 for Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Gulf states, A3720 for 190 other countries and regions, and A3721 for China mainland. All four are eSIM-only, and their band lists follow the same pattern as iPhone 18 Pro.
Bottom line
If you only remember one thing: the last three digits of the model number decide more than the colour or the storage. A3472 is the US phone with mmWave, A3713 is the eSIM-only phone with the widest LTE list, A3714 is the world phone with a SIM tray, and A3715 is the China mainland phone with two. Check the number in Settings before you buy abroad or second-hand, and match it to where you actually use the phone.
