Where your data exits differs by plan. Our France plans up to 20 GB exit in Poland, our Europe plan exits in the United Kingdom, and our 100 GB plan uses a local French network and exits in France. Our guide to how a travel eSIM changes your IP address explains what that affects.

France only, or a Europe plan?

For 10 GB, our Europe plan costs 25 cents less than our France-only plan and works in 34 countries, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Italy. Unless you want a smaller size, there is no reason to buy the France-only 10 GB plan. The France-only plans are the better buy at 5 GB, at $5.79, and at 20 GB, at $12.19 against $13.03 for the Europe plan.

Airalo’s France plan covers mainland France and Corsica. Its page says it does not include Monaco or the overseas territories, such as Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion. Treat those as separate destinations with any provider and check the country list. Our guide to the best eSIM for Europe compares the regional plans, and the cheapest Europe eSIM guide lists the lowest price at each size.

The catch behind each option

  • Our France plans up to 20 GB count calendar days. The day you first connect is day 1, and the plan ends at midnight UTC on day 30, which is 1 am or 2 am in France. Our guide to when an eSIM starts counting explains the rules.
  • Our 100 GB plan cannot be topped up. It runs for 30 days from the first data connection.
  • Our unlimited plan slows down. You get 3 GB a day at up to 20 Mbps, then 1 Mbps until the next day. It covers 28 countries and does not include Switzerland.
  • Airalo’s unlimited plan also slows, to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, at about twice our price.
  • Holafly has no daily cap, but hotspot sharing is limited to 1 GB a day, and its week costs $27.50.

How much data you need in France

Maps, train and museum bookings, messaging and some social media use about 500 MB to 1 GB a day. That makes 5 GB enough for a week and 10 GB enough for two weeks for most travellers. Video calls and streaming use 1 to 3 GB an hour. Our travel data guide has the numbers by app.

When someone else’s plan is the better buy

  • You want unlimited data for a month. We do not sell it. Airalo’s 30 days cost $59.00 and Holafly’s $73.90.
  • You stream for hours every day. Holafly has no daily speed cap; ours and Airalo’s slow down.
  • You want a French IP address on a small plan. Only our 100 GB plan exits in France. Our smaller France plans exit in Poland.
  • You need a phone number. The plans above are data only. Our guide to Europe eSIMs with a phone number covers the five Europe plans that include a French number.

Before you buy

  • Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, on our compatibility list.
  • Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, using the install guide, and start it within 60 days of purchase.
  • Keep your home SIM in the phone for calls and texts, with its data roaming switched off.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for France?

For most trips, a fixed-data plan. On 12 October 2026, 10 GB for 30 days cost $7.54 with Code eSIM on a 34-country Europe plan, $10.00 with Ubigi and $17.00 with Airalo. If you stream video every day, an unlimited week cost $11.00 with us, $23.50 with Airalo and $27.50 with Holafly.

Does a Europe eSIM work in France?

Yes, if France is on its country list, and every Europe plan we checked lists it. Our 34-country Europe plan costs $7.54 for 10 GB over 30 days, which is 25 cents less than our France-only 10 GB plan.

Does a France eSIM work in Monaco?

Not automatically. Airalo’s page says its France plan covers mainland France and Corsica and does not include Monaco or the overseas territories. Our France plans list France only. Check that Monaco is on the plan’s country list before you rely on it there.

How much data do I need for a week in Paris?

About 3 to 7 GB for maps, bookings, messaging and photos, at 500 MB to 1 GB a day. Our 5 GB plan for 30 days costs $5.79 and covers a typical week, and 10 GB for $7.54 covers two.

Is there an unlimited eSIM for France?

Yes. On 12 October 2026 a week cost $11.00 with Code eSIM on a 28-country plan that slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, $23.50 with Airalo, which also slows after 3 GB a day, and $27.50 with Holafly, which has no daily cap.

Which network does a France eSIM use?

It depends on the plan. Airalo’s France plan uses Orange. Ubigi and Holafly list Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free Mobile. Our Europe plan lists the same four, and our 100 GB France plan uses Orange and gives you a French IP address.

For France, compare the Europe plan before you buy a France-only one. At 10 GB it is the cheaper of the two, and it keeps working when you cross a border.
