Yes, you can get a Europe eSIM with a phone number. Two plans in our catalogue come with a French (+33) mobile number and unlimited calls and texts within the EU: 60 GB for 30 days at $36.74 and 120 GB for 30 days at $47.04. The data works in 34 countries, including Switzerland and the UK. Every other Europe plan we sell is data-only, so if you need a European number to call or be called on, these two are the ones to look at.
You need a number in Europe more often than you expect. The apartment host in Lisbon calls instead of messaging. The restaurant in Florence confirms your table by phone. The tour operator in Croatia wants a European number on the booking form. A data-only eSIM covers maps and messaging apps, but none of those calls. Here is what the two plans with a number actually include, using our catalogue on 5 October 2026.
- Number: a French mobile number (+33) on Bouygues Telecom’s prepaid service.
- Calls and texts: unlimited within the EU, according to the plan description.
- Data: 60 GB or 120 GB for 30 days, at full speed with no daily limit, in the 27 EU countries plus Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, the UK and Vatican City.
- Price per GB: $0.61 on the 60 GB plan and $0.39 on the 120 GB plan; the 120 GB plan is the cheapest per GB of any Europe plan we sell.
The two Europe plans with a number
| Plan | Price | Number | Calls and SMS | Data | Hotspot |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EU 60 GB + unlimited calls, 30 days | $36.74 | French (+33) | Unlimited within the EU | 60 GB, 34 countries | Supported |
| Europe 120 GB + unlimited calls, 30 days | $47.04 | French (+33) | Unlimited within the EU | 120 GB, 34 countries | Supported |
Both plans start on their first network connection and run on 4G LTE, so install before you fly but keep the line switched off until you land. Neither can be topped up, so treat the number as a 30-day number for this trip, not a permanent one.

Why a French number works across Europe
A French mobile line is an EU line, so it is covered by the EU’s roaming rules. The European Commission’s roaming policy page says “Roam Like At Home” applies in the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Moldova. That is why one French plan can include calls and texts throughout the EU rather than in France only.
Switzerland and the UK are outside that framework. The plans still include data there, but the description promises unlimited calls and texts “within the EU”, so do not count on free calls from Zurich or London. If calls in the UK matter most, our UK eSIM with a phone number guide covers six plans with a UK number and minutes, from $4.59.
What the number costs you
The fair comparison is a data-only Europe plan of a similar size. On 5 October 2026:
| Plan | Price | Data | Number and calls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe 50 GB, 30 days | $30.59 | 50 GB, 34 countries | None |
| EU 60 GB + unlimited calls | $36.74 | 60 GB, 34 countries | French number, unlimited EU calls and texts |
| Europe 10 GB, 30 days | $7.54 | 10 GB, 34 countries | None |
For a heavy user who needs 50 GB or more, the number is almost free: $6.15 more buys 10 GB extra plus the number and calls. For a light user, it is a different picture: 10 GB of data-only Europe coverage costs $7.54, so the cheapest plan with a number costs about $29 more, mostly for data you may not use. That is worth paying if you will make or receive several calls; it is not if a messaging app will do.
Compare all Europe plans: the Europe eSIM page lists every plan with filters for data and days, and each plan page shows its country list, calls and hotspot terms.
Who should buy a Europe plan with a number
| Your trip | Good fit |
|---|---|
| A month in Europe, heavy data, calls to bookings and hosts | EU 60 GB or 120 GB with the French number |
| Remote work across several EU countries, laptop on hotspot | Europe 120 GB with the number, at $0.39 per GB |
| A week of maps and messaging, no calls needed | Europe 10 GB data-only, $7.54 |
| Mostly the UK, with calls | A UK plan with a UK number, from $4.59 |
What the plan does not do
- It does not replace your home number. Your own SIM stays on the phone’s other line, so bank and airline codes still reach you there. Our dual-SIM guide shows how to set both lines up.
- It does not promise calls outside the EU. The description covers calls and texts within the EU only.
- It is not a permanent number. The plans cannot be topped up, so the number is for this trip.
- It does not guarantee any app or service will accept it. Some services only accept numbers from their own country.
Our audit of calls and SMS on travel eSIMs explains why only 12 of the plans in our catalogue include calls at all.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a Europe eSIM with a phone number?
Yes. Two plans in our catalogue include a French (+33) mobile number with unlimited calls and texts within the EU: 60 GB for 30 days at $36.74 and 120 GB for 30 days at $47.04, on 5 October 2026. All our other Europe plans are data-only.
Which countries does the French number work in?
The data works in 34 countries: the 27 EU countries plus Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, the UK and Vatican City. Unlimited calls and texts are described as “within the EU”, so plan on using them inside the EU rather than in Switzerland or the UK.
Can I receive calls on the Europe eSIM?
Yes, it is a French mobile number on Bouygues Telecom, so people can call and text it. Calls and texts within the EU are unlimited according to the plan description. Your home number keeps working on the phone’s other line at the same time.
Is a Europe eSIM with a number worth the extra cost?
For heavy users, yes: the 60 GB plan with a number costs $6.15 more than a 50 GB data-only plan. For light users, probably not: 10 GB of data-only Europe coverage is $7.54, and messaging apps handle most calls when both sides have data.
Does the Europe eSIM number work in the UK?
The data does: the UK is one of the 34 covered countries. The unlimited calls and texts are described as within the EU, and the UK has not been in the EU since 2020. If you need calls in the UK, our UK plans include a UK number and minutes, from $4.59.
When does the Europe eSIM with a number start?
On its first network connection, not when you buy it. Install it on Wi-Fi before you fly, keep the line switched off until you land in one of the 34 covered countries, then turn it on. It runs for 30 days from then and cannot be topped up.
A data-only eSIM is enough for most trips to Europe. When the trip involves real phone calls, a local number is the part you cannot fake with an app, and here it comes with more data than most travellers will use.
