ChatGPT Plus is listed cheapest in the Philippines App Store, at PHP 999 a month (about US$15.93), and highest in Hungary, at HUF 8,990 (about US$28.46). That is the range across 39 App Store storefronts we checked on 16 September 2026. In the US App Store, Plus is listed at US$19.99; OpenAI’s pricing page lists it at US$20 a month.
The bigger regional gaps are in ChatGPT Go, the lower-priced plan. Go is listed at INR 399 in India (about US$4.16), roughly half its US$8 US price. ChatGPT Pro 5x, by contrast, is cheapest in the US at US$100. Here are all three plans, in local currency and US dollars, with what actually decides the price you pay.
- Cheapest Plus: Philippines, about US$15.93, then Canada (about US$17.93) and Japan (about US$19.35).
- Most expensive Plus: Hungary, about US$28.46, then Denmark and the UK.
- Euro area: EUR 22.99 in all 11 euro storefronts we checked, about US$26.52.
- Cheapest Go: India, Indonesia and the Philippines, all under US$5.
- What decides your price: your Apple Account’s country or region, not where you are travelling or which network you use.

Three patterns stand out. First, the cheapest Plus prices are not all in lower-income markets: Canada and Japan sit below the US once converted. Second, several emerging markets, such as India, Türkiye and Thailand, pay about the same as the US for Plus. Third, Europe is the most expensive region: Norway, Poland, the UK, Denmark and Hungary all list Plus 33% to 42% above the US price.
ChatGPT Go: where regional pricing really shows
If you compare only Plus, you miss the plan with the widest spread. ChatGPT Go is listed at US$8 in the US App Store, and at under US$5 in India, Indonesia and the Philippines. In those markets Go costs a fifth to a third of Plus; in the US it is 40%.

| 10 | United States | USD 8 | US$8.00 | 40% |
ChatGPT Pro works the other way. Pro 5x is listed at US$100 in the US App Store, matching the “from US$100” on OpenAI’s pricing page, and no storefront we checked was cheaper once converted. The highest was Hungary, at about US$128.

Why ChatGPT Plus costs EUR 22.99 in every euro country
All 11 euro storefronts we checked list Plus at EUR 22.99 and Go at EUR 7.99, even though standard VAT rates in those countries run from 19% in Germany to 25.5% in Finland, according to the EU’s Your Europe VAT rates page.
| Country | ChatGPT Plus | ChatGPT Go | Standard VAT rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germany | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 19% |
| France | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 20% |
| Austria | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 20% |
| Spain | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 21% |
| Netherlands | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 21% |
| Belgium | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 21% |
| Italy | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 22% |
| Ireland | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 23% |
| Portugal | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 23% |
| Greece | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 24% |
| Finland | EUR 22.99 | EUR 7.99 | 25.5% |
The App Store listing does not say how the price is split between tax and the net price, so we do not draw conclusions about who absorbs the difference. For a buyer the practical point is simple: inside the euro area, moving from Germany to Finland does not change the listed price. Outside it, currency matters more: Poland, Norway, the UK, Denmark and Hungary all list Plus above the euro level once converted, while Switzerland and Sweden come in below it.
App Store or OpenAI website: which is cheaper?
In the US the difference is one cent: US$19.99 in the App Store against US$20 on OpenAI’s pricing page, which also lists Go at US$8 and Pro from US$100 a month. That page showed US dollar prices when we checked, and we could not check OpenAI’s web prices country by country, so the comparison above covers the App Store only.
What changes more than the price is who bills you. A subscription bought in the iPhone app is billed by Apple and managed in your Apple Account; Apple’s guide to cancelling a subscription from Apple starts in Settings, under your name. A subscription bought on the web is billed by OpenAI. If you already subscribe one way, check your receipt before subscribing the other way, so you do not pay twice.
Apple’s terms say Apple charges your payment method for purchases “including any applicable taxes”. The listing itself does not show whether tax is already included, so the amount on your receipt can differ from the prices above.
Can you subscribe from a cheaper country?
Not by picking a country off this list. The App Store price you see is set by your Apple Account’s country or region, and Apple’s Media Services terms say its services are available for use in your country or territory of residence, which Apple calls your “Home Country”.
Apple’s support article on changing your Apple Account country or region is written for a new country or region: it asks you to spend any remaining balance and cancel subscriptions that block the change, then wait for them to end, and says you might need a valid payment method for your new country or region. OpenAI’s own terms also apply to your ChatGPT account. The regional prices in this guide are set for people who live in those markets, so the useful comparison is the one for the country you actually live in, or are moving to.
Using ChatGPT while you travel
Your subscription belongs to your account, so it comes with you when you travel, and so does the price you pay. What a trip changes is your connection. Voice conversations, image uploads and file analysis all need data, and hotel Wi-Fi is not always there when you need a translation or directions.
A travel eSIM gives your phone mobile data in the country you are visiting. It does not change your Apple Account’s country or region, so it does not change your App Store price, and we would not present it as a way to. Apple also notes that some services available in your Home Country may not be available when you travel outside it. For how a travel eSIM routes your traffic, see does a travel eSIM change your IP address; for how much data to buy, see our travel data usage guide.

How we collected these prices
- Source: the In-App Purchases list on the ChatGPT app’s App Store page in 40 storefronts, read on 16 September 2026. The Hong Kong storefront returned no listing when we checked, so it is not included.
- Plans: Apple lists in-app purchases by name only, without billing periods. Every storefront lists two “ChatGPT Plus” items; the second is priced exactly like Pro 20x in all 39 markets (US$200 in the US), so we cannot tell what it is. We use the lower one, which matches OpenAI’s US$20 monthly Plus price.
- Conversion: ECB euro reference rates of 16 September 2026, crossed through the US dollar; UAE dirham and Saudi riyal at their US dollar pegs of 3.6725 and 3.75. US dollar figures move with exchange rates every day.
- Not covered: web prices outside the US, taxes added at checkout, promotions, and Business or Enterprise plans.
Prices change. Check the App Store or OpenAI before you subscribe. Our iPhone 18 Pro price comparison uses the same conversion method.
Frequently asked questions
Which country has the cheapest ChatGPT Plus?
Among 39 App Store storefronts we checked on 16 September 2026, the Philippines lists ChatGPT Plus lowest, at PHP 999 a month, about US$15.93. Canada and Japan come next, at about US$17.93 and US$19.35. Hungary lists the highest price, at about US$28.46.
How much is ChatGPT Plus in the US?
ChatGPT Plus is listed at US$19.99 a month in the US App Store and at US$20 a month on OpenAI’s pricing page. Apple’s terms say purchases are charged including any applicable taxes, so the amount on your receipt may differ from the listed price.
Is ChatGPT cheaper on the App Store or the website?
In the US, the App Store is one cent cheaper for Plus: US$19.99 against US$20. The larger difference is billing. App Store subscriptions are billed and cancelled through Apple, while web subscriptions are billed by OpenAI. We did not compare web prices outside the US.
Why is ChatGPT Plus the same price across the euro area?
All 11 euro App Store storefronts we checked list Plus at EUR 22.99 and Go at EUR 7.99, even though standard VAT ranges from 19% in Germany to 25.5% in Finland. The listing does not show how the price splits between tax and net price.
Where is ChatGPT Go cheapest?
ChatGPT Go is listed lowest in India at INR 399 a month, about US$4.16, followed by Indonesia at about US$4.24 and the Philippines at about US$4.78. The US App Store lists Go at US$8. Go shows much wider regional price differences than Plus.
Can I pay the Philippine price if I do not live in the Philippines?
App Store prices follow your Apple Account’s country or region, and Apple’s terms say its services are available for use in your country or territory of residence. Apple also says a region change may need a valid payment method for the new country. Compare the prices where you live.
Does a travel eSIM change my ChatGPT subscription price?
No. A travel eSIM changes the mobile network your phone uses abroad. It does not change your Apple Account’s country or region, which is what sets your App Store price. It keeps ChatGPT and your other apps online while you travel, at the price you already pay.
Why does the App Store show two ChatGPT Plus prices?
Every storefront we checked lists two ChatGPT Plus items, and the second is priced exactly like ChatGPT Pro 20x, such as US$200 in the US. Apple does not show billing periods, so we cannot confirm what it is. The lower price matches OpenAI’s monthly Plus price.
Bottom line
ChatGPT Plus is priced within a fairly narrow band worldwide: about US$16 to US$28 across 39 App Store markets, with the Philippines lowest and Europe highest. Go is where regional pricing really shows, at under US$5 in India, Indonesia and the Philippines. The price you pay is set by the country your account belongs to, so compare the App Store and web price for where you live, check your receipt for tax, and make sure you are not subscribed twice.
