No travel eSIM covers the whole of Africa, so the best one is the cheapest plan that lists every country on your route. On 11 October 2026, 5 GB for 15 days cost $16.00 with us on a plan with networks in 20 countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt and Morocco, against $37.00 with Airalo for 36 countries. For 10 GB, ours is $27.60 for 15 days and Ubigi’s is $30.00 for 30 days. Our regional plan does not cover South Africa, where our single-country plan costs $19.04 for 10 GB. For unlimited data, Holafly’s week is $42.90; we do not sell one.
Africa is the dearest region in our catalogue: 10 GB on our Africa plan costs $27.60, against $7.54 for Europe and $9.80 for Asia. That makes the choice of plan matter more here than anywhere else. Below are four providers’ own prices, the countries each plan covers, and the routes where you should buy someone else’s plan, not ours.

Africa eSIM prices compared
These are the prices on each provider’s own Africa page on 11 October 2026, in US dollars. The plans do not line up by size or length, so each cell shows what is sold. Saily blocked our automated check with a verification page, so it is not included.

Ubigi sells two Africa plans with different country lists. Its $30.00 plan for 10 GB covers 29 destinations and leaves out Kenya and Tanzania. Its 3 GB plan at $44.00 uses a longer list that includes them. Airalo’s largest Africa plan is 5 GB. Holafly’s unlimited plans have no daily speed cap, but hotspot sharing is limited to 1 GB a day.
Which countries each Africa plan covers
This is the table to check first. These are sixteen of the destinations travellers ask about most, and no single plan lists all of them.
| Destination | Code eSIM, 20 countries | Airalo, 36 | Ubigi, 29 | Holafly, 28 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Africa | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Kenya | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |

| Botswana | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Namibia | No | No | No | No |
Three things stand out. Our plan misses South Africa, Botswana and Senegal. Airalo’s misses Morocco and Tunisia. None of the four regional plans lists Namibia, so a route through Namibia needs a separate plan or a local SIM card.
What our Africa plan includes
Our 20-country plan lists a network in each of its countries: Algeria, Chad, DR Congo, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Réunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia. Its terms are stricter than our plans for other regions, so read them before you buy.
| Term | Our 20-country Africa plan |
|---|---|
| Networks on safari routes | Airtel in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda |
| Networks in North Africa | Vodafone in Egypt, Orange in Morocco, Tunisie Telecom in Tunisia |
| Speed | 4G; 5G is listed in Mauritius only |
| Longest plan | 15 days |
| Top-up | No. If you run out, you buy a second plan |
| Data exits in | Singapore |
| When the days start | On first data use in a covered country |
Coverage inside national parks and on remote roads depends on the local network. Look at the operator’s own coverage map for the parks on your route, and download offline maps before you leave the city. For a trip longer than 15 days, buy a single-country plan for the country where you spend most of your time, or a second regional plan when the first one ends.
Single-country prices in Africa
If one country is most of your trip, a single-country plan runs for 30 days and often costs less than the regional plan. These were our cheapest 10 GB plans for 30 days on 11 October 2026.
| Country | 10 GB for 30 days |
|---|---|
| Egypt | $11.85 |
| Morocco | $13.24 |
| South Africa | $19.04 |
| Ghana | $20.00 |
| Tanzania | $23.00 |
| Mauritius | $24.84 |
We do not sell a Kenya-only plan; the 20-country plan is our cheapest way to get data in Kenya. Egypt and Morocco are compared with Airalo, Ubigi and Holafly in the next section.
Egypt and Morocco eSIM prices compared
Code eSIM prices were checked on 26 October 2026; Airalo, Ubigi and Holafly prices come from each provider’s own page on 10 October 2026, in US dollars.
| Trip | Code eSIM | Airalo | Ubigi | Holafly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Egypt, 10 GB for 30 days | $11.85 | $33.00 | $19.00 | Unlimited only |
| Egypt, unlimited for 7 days | Not sold | $32.00 | Not checked | $36.50 |
| Morocco, 10 GB for 30 days | $13.24 | $34.00 | $23.00 | Unlimited only |
| Morocco, unlimited for 7 days | Not sold | $35.00 | Not checked | $32.50 |
Code eSIM’s Egypt plan uses Etisalat and Orange and routes data through the UK; its Morocco plan uses Orange and INWI and routes data through the UK or Ireland. In Morocco, Holafly’s unlimited week costs less than Airalo’s. Egypt restricts voice and video calls over apps such as WhatsApp on local networks. A travel eSIM routes data through another country, so behaviour can differ, but app calling is not guaranteed on any plan.
When to buy someone else’s plan
- South Africa with Botswana or other neighbours. Our regional plan lists neither. Airalo’s 5 GB plan at $37.00 to $41.00 and Ubigi’s 10 GB plan at $30.00 list both. We do sell a ten-country plan that includes South Africa, but at $46.35 for 5 GB it costs more than Airalo’s.
- A regional plan for a full month. Ours stops at 15 days. Ubigi’s 10 GB plan runs for 30 days, and Airalo sells 5 GB for 30 days.
- Unlimited data. Only Holafly sells it for the region, at $42.90 for a week.
- Top-ups. Our 20-country plan cannot be topped up. Airalo’s can.
- A local phone number. All of these plans are data only.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best eSIM for travelling in Africa?
The cheapest plan that lists every country on your route. On 11 October 2026, 5 GB for 15 days cost $16.00 with Code eSIM for 20 countries, and $37.00 with Airalo for 36 countries. Ubigi’s 10 GB for 30 days was $30.00, and Holafly’s unlimited week $42.90.
Is there one eSIM that works in all of Africa?
No. The regional plans we checked on 11 October 2026 list 20 to 36 countries each: 20 with Code eSIM, 28 with Holafly, 29 with Ubigi and 36 with Airalo. None of the four lists Namibia. Check your route against the country list before you buy.
What is the best eSIM for a Kenya and Tanzania safari?
A regional plan that lists both. Ours covers Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda on Airtel, at $16.00 for 5 GB or $27.60 for 10 GB over 15 days. Airalo’s and Holafly’s plans list both countries too; Ubigi’s $30.00 plan lists neither.
Does an Africa eSIM work in South Africa?
Airalo’s, Ubigi’s and Holafly’s regional plans list South Africa. Our 20-country plan does not. For South Africa alone, our single-country plan cost $19.04 for 10 GB over 30 days on 11 October 2026.
Can I top up an Africa eSIM?
It depends on the plan. Our 20-country Africa plan cannot be topped up, so you buy a second plan if you run out. Airalo’s Africa plan is rechargeable. Our single-country plans for Egypt, Morocco and South Africa can be topped up.
How long does an Africa eSIM last?
Our regional plan lasts 7 or 15 days from first data use. Airalo sells 3, 7, 15 and 30 days, Ubigi’s 10 GB plan runs 30 days, and Holafly sells by the day up to 90. Our single-country plans run 30 days.
Write your route down country by country. In Africa the list decides the plan, and the price comes second.
